A snowbird house still needs a human

Hurricanes do not check the flight from Ohio. Shutters, a key, the A/C left on — occupancy rules are not a suggestion.

We are here November through April. The house is empty the rest of the year unless someone local has a key. Insurance asked. A named storm does not care that we had a wedding in Toledo.

ALERTFlagler is on my phone in May, not when the cone is photogenic. A neighbor who will pull shutters is worth more than a ring camera speech.

If you are buying a second home, underwrite it as if you lived here in August. Carriers already do.
